LL‑37 is the only human‑origin cathelicidin host‑defense peptide, composed of 37 amino‑acid residues. It is a multifunctional bioactive peptide naturally involved in the human innate immune system.

It delivers broad‑spectrum antimicrobial effects against Gram‑positive bacteria, Gram‑negative bacteria, fungi and enveloped viruses by disrupting pathogen cell‑membrane structure. It also inhibits biofilm formation, helping to study drug‑resistant bacterial infections.

As an important immune modulator, LL‑37 recruits and activates immune cells including neutrophils, monocytes and T‑cells. It neutralizes endotoxin LPS, balances cytokine secretion, and prevents excessive uncontrolled inflammatory responses caused by pathogen invasion.
